Producers Maeve and Jasper, forming the creative duo behind the Leeds-based Lucky Iris, have recently released their brand-new single, “i just want to dance,” in collaboration with EMI North Records label partner Launchpad+.
Known for their shimmering production and honest yet fun songwriting, the duo continues to solidify their reputation as rising stars in the UK’s crunchy-pop and electronic scene.
The new release follows their 2025 EP, day to night, released via Universal Production Music’s Focus label. The project is defined by upbeat melodies, intricate vocal layering, and infectious energy—entirely produced and mixed by the duo themselves.
“i just want to dance” is an excellent follow-up, picking up where day to night left off. It stands as a clear testimony and love letter to club culture and the joy of losing yourself in music and movement. Lucky Iris brings these themes to life with glittering synths, propulsive beats, and standout vocals from Maeve.
They’ve been named “pop stars in waiting” by Tom Robinson (BBC Radio 6), and have landed features on BBC Radio 1, BBC Introducing, Rolling Stone UK, and DIY Magazine. Lucky Iris is rapidly gaining attention across the country. Their music is rooted in instinct and honesty—refreshing, exciting, and entirely their own.
Speaking exclusively to BruitMag, Maeve, one half of the duo, shares:
“It was important for the new era of Lucky Iris to start with an exploration into what first got us into electronic pop music. As soon as I was old enough to get into a club, all I wanted to do was go out dancing. It was my first taste of freedom, which was so special to me—the first time, the music that got me there, and the rush of going out has always stayed with me. 'i just want to dance' is dedicated to the light-up dance floors and neon drinks.”
Lucky Iris are here to stay, with 2025 shaping up to be their biggest year yet. Their new breakout single “i just want to dance” marks the beginning of a bold new chapter, and the duo shows no signs of slowing down.
For fans of hyperpop, electronic pop, or anyone craving a refreshing take on modern club music, Maeve and Jasper are ones to watch. Lucky Iris are taking over the dancefloor—one glowing synth at a time.
